Focus and Composition
The Commissioners Court serves as both the legislative and executive branches of county government. The Texas Constitution specifies that it consist of:
Many State administrative responsibilities rest with the court, as well as a growing number of permissive authorities. The Commissioners Court has budgetary authority over all County departments and other elected officials.
