The County Auditor's primary duty is to oversee all the financial record-keeping for the county and to ensure that all expenditures comply with the County budget. By law, the Auditor has continuous access to all books and financial records and conducts detailed reviews of all County operations. The County Auditor accounts for all county assets such as: furniture & fixtures, machinery & equipment, transportation vehicles, land & buildings and roads & bridges.
The County Auditor's position is filled by appointment. Every 2 years the State District Judge of Rockwall County appoints a County Auditor.
