Future IH 30 / SH 205
Bypass Interchange

Project Description: Construct new location interchange on IH 30 at the future SH 205 Bypass in City of Rockwall. On November 8, 2005, the citizens of the City of Rockwall passed Proposition 1 to fund the design and construction of the new location SH 205 Bypass. The proposed interchange will accommodate the ultimate 8-lane section for IH 30. The proposed IH 30 overpass structure will span the 6-lane divided section for the SH 205 Bypass, left turn lanes and U-turn lanes. New exit and entrance ramps will also be constructed. The SH 205 Bypass interchange must be completed prior to the FM 549 interchange reconstruction project so that the SH 205 Bypass can serve as a detour for FM 549.

  Outer Loop Route Study

Project Description: The route study is being conducted to select a corridor for a future outer loop roadway.  The purpose of an outer loop will be to increase mobility in the region by creating the next ring roadway further from the Dallas city center.  The loop will extend from Denton and Collin County, through Rockwall County and into Kaufman and Dallas Counties. The Outer Loop is being studied in Rockwall County at this time so that the County will be able to choose their preferred route location and so that the County’s desired location can be included in the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Regional Thoroughfare Plan.  Inclusion in the Regional Thoroughfare Plan is necessary in order to provide the potential for future funding from NCTCOG for the planning, design or construction phases of the project.
