On Saturday, August 2nd, first responders from Rockwall County and the cities of Rockwall, Heath, Fate, Royse City, McLendon-Chisholm, and Rowlett gathered at Pegasus Foods in Rockwall to conduct a joint hazardous materials response exercise.

This year’s scenario was one of the most challenging we’ve designed: a disgruntled employee released two hazardous chemicals before fleeing into a nearby wooded area. While fire departments worked to identify and contain the chemicals, law enforcement agencies simultaneously located and apprehended the suspect. These efforts were coordinated through a unified police and fire command post to ensure seamless communication across all agencies.

This marks the third year that the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management has organized this multi-agency exercise. We are grateful to all participating departments for their dedication throughout both the planning and execution phases. Special thanks to Pegasus Foods for generously providing the training site.
