Gene Burton College and Career Academy Law Practicum students Kenai Seda Rentas and Ysabella Buchanan visited the office of County Judge Frank New to learn about his job.

The discussion focused on his administrative duties, including how the county judge manages resources, maintains public safety, and oversees emergency management. Judge New explained how he presides over the Commissioners Court, which handles setting policies, budgets, and tax rates for the county.
After the visit, they toured the 3rd-floor courtroom and visited the old county jail on the 4th floor of the Historic County Courthouse.

Kenai is in the program to gain experience and understanding of the law to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Ysabella is excited to attend Sam Houston State University to earn a master's in sociology. She hopes to earn a PhD in Forensic Psychology.
