PUBLIC INPUT IS NEEDED FOR FM 551 STARTING MAY 22

ROCKWALL COUNTY – The Texas Department of Transportation will host both an in-person and virtual public hearing on the proposed project FM 551 from SH 276 to SH 66 in Rockwall County to seek public input.
• The in-person public hearing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at 1900 CD Boren Parkway, Fate, TX 75087. There will be a live presentation about the proposed project at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be an open house format where the public can come and go at their convenience.
• The virtual public hearing will launch at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at http://www.keepitmovingdallas.com/projects/fm-roads/FM551. The virtual meeting is not a live event.
The same information will be available at both the in-person and virtual meetings.
The proposed improvements would widen more than three miles of FM 551 from SH 276 to SH 66. From SH 276 to I-30, FM 551 would widen from two lanes to four lanes, separated by a raised median. A shared-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians would be constructed along both sides of the roadway.
