No, the County Clerk's office does not research the use of the name before filing. Public computers are available in our office so that each name may be researched or can be found online here.

There is a $23.50 fee for filing and an additional $.50 for each additional owner(s) name for an Assumed Name Certificate (DBA) in the County Clerk's office.
The fee is $81.00. A portion of this fee will be waived after attending a state approved 8-hour premarital training class. Information on this class can be found at www.TwogetherInTexas.com.
Applicants should be 18 years of age or older with valid identification. Information on applicants under 18 years of age can be obtained by calling (972) 204-6300.
If either party is active in the military the 72-hour waiting period is waived. Military identification is required.
The filing fee is $25.00 for the first page and $4.00 for each additional page.
