Ultimate IH 30 Conceptual Plan

Project Description
The future ultimate section designated by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for IH 30 will have 8 main lanes consisting of 2 managed lanes and 2 non-managed lanes in each direction with 2-lane 1-way frontage roads.

If additional funding for these projects is to be secured through TxDOT and/or the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the proposed new location interchanges (205 Bypass and Hickory Hill) and reconstructed interchanges (FM 549 and FM 551) must accommodate the ultimate IH 30 section and minimize any construction that will not be incorporated into to the future ultimate facility.

Further, the ultimate section will also utilize X-ramp configurations to improve future mobility through the IH 30 corridor. Subsequently, before planning and design of the individual interchange projects can commence in earnest, the future ultimate facility must be planned to a level of detail to ensure the various project pieces will mesh with one another and the future ultimate IH 30 corridor.

Initiative in Developing the Plan
To expedite the planning and design of the interchange projects, Rockwall County has taken the initiative to perform this planning effort for a portion of the IH 30 corridor. A conceptual plan will be developed for the ultimate IH 30 from FM 740 (STA 185+00) to FM 35 (STA 765+00).

This document will assist with planning for the interchange projects included in the 2004 Bond Program as well as for other future new location interchanges and existing interchange reconstruction projects.
